Artist member since 2020
Toronto, Ontario
Hello & welcome! My name is Alysha and I'm an emerging artist, who studied in Toronto at OCAD University, earning a BFA in Drawing and Painting. Working with the theme of sustainability, as an artist, has challenged the way I approach creation. In my artistic practice, I weave together the threads of feminism and environmental consciousness, crafting a narrative of resilience and empowerment through recycled materials. Although I do work with many mediums, including oil and acrylic paint, Iβm drawn to the tactile quality of fabrics and fibers. Each piece I create is not only a celebration of creativity but also a statement of solidarity with the feminist movement and a commitment to sustainability.
By repurposing discarded materials, I challenge the notion of disposability that pervades our consumer culture, advocating for a more mindful approach to consumption and waste. As I continue to work within a sustainable mindset, I hope to evoke others to consider the ways they can live sustainably.
